Find your Greatness

I hope you are all having a fabulous Sunday!!!  Please make sure you scroll down and take a look at the schedule for the week!!  There are no Tuesday/Thursday classes in Atherton this week.  We will have the T/TH 6 am classes at Woodland.  The MWF classes at Stanford Hills will be at 7:30 am all week.  If you do not find a group class time that works for you and you would like to get a small group together, please let me know.  I have some availability in my schedule since several clients are out of town.

I came across this Nike ad and just have to share it:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=2JnYcuRW_qo

I believe we are all capable of greatness.  I am inspired everyday by so many of you.  I am inspired not only by how hard you work in class and how far you have come in your fitness, but also by your kindness, your accomplishments, your dreams and passions.  Yesterday I was at a barbecue and there was a young man with a short afro who reminded me of a special person in my life who planted a seed of “greatness” in my soul.  When I was a little girl, my father was the head basketball and baseball coach at Berry College, just outside of Atlanta, Georgia.  I was the cheerleader mascot and had a special connection with many of the college cheerleaders, but especially with Wayne Vaughn who happened to have a short afro.  I will never forget the day I had to tell Wayne that my dad had resigned and we were moving to Nashville.  We were at a soccer game on campus and Wayne bent down and we both were crying (OK, I know this is a little sappy, but it is how I remember the story) and he told me how special I was and that he knew I would be doing great things with my life.  I was 7 at the time and all I knew was how much I would miss this person who was so kind to me.  Sadly, Wayne Vaughn died of Aids in the early 90’s, but in 1973 this wonderful gay African-American college student left a seed of inspiration planted in a 7 year old southern white girl’s  soul forever.  We are all capable of greatness and capable of planting the seeds to inspire greatness in others, never underestimate that power.
