I love to share great finds, especially those that come from my clients!!  The first find is “Nancy Irene’s Naturals”.  These are the most delicious jams, apple sauce, chow chow, etc., made from the best organic ingredients and from a passion for quality and love of good food.  Nancy Irene is the mother and mother-in-law of two of my clients and an occasional “drop in” to class herself.  Nancy Irene just got a contract from Williams Sonoma in Walnut Creek, so if you want to purchase a few goods, you better act fast!!  Here is an order form:
The second is Flutter eyewear from my client, Patti Lee-Hoffman.  Flutter has fabulously stylish reading glasses that are just so much fun to wear!!  Flutter is offering a promotion for the rest of this week – if you wear reading glasses, you will not want to miss out on having a pair from Flutter!!!  During the rest of January 2013, get free shipping and 10% off on all your Flutter purchases using promo code, BIGHIT10.
If you have any great finds that you would like to share with the group, please send me an email.  Please let me know if you are coming to class – and don’t forget to check out my new website www.stellafit.com.  If you cannot make it, I have a “workout of the week” posted for you to do at home.  As always, I welcome your feedback!!!
Cheers!
Stella

Of course I love the saying, “focus on a lifestyle that will last forever.”  It made me think about the Whole30 challenge (Paleo elimination program that lasts for 30 days that I am doing with a few other clients) and what impact it will have on my “lifestyle”.  I am not advocating for the Paleo diet, but I will share with you the positive effects the first 2 weeks of the program have had for me:
1.  It took 10 days, but I honestly feel better (mentally and physically), and quite frankly, I felt good before I started this program.
2.  It has gotten me out of my cooking routine and I have been trying so many new recipes and expanded the way I think about food/cooking/eating in general.
3.  It has helped me take a more focused look at what my kids are actually eating, the impact it has on their health, and how I can make a few key changes to their diets each week.
4.  It has helped me see, in our world of excess, how important a healthy “dietary re-set” can be, especially for those of you, like myself, who can easily get off track over the holidays, or extended breaks (like summer).  Yes, I will go back to moderate drinking (Friday and Saturday nights are just not the same) and will add the things I really miss back into my diet (like Cowgirl Creamery cheese).  Hopefully, I can keep away from the white sugar and flour as much as possible.  They are the worst offenders in our diet!!!
I hope you all will think about ways you can improve your own “lifestyle”.   If you want to try the Whole30 challenge, check out http://whole9life.com.  There are some wonderful blog sites for recipes as well.  One of my favorites is http://nomnompaleo.com.  In the words of Martin Luther King, Jr., “Faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”
Have a wonderful long weekend and I hope to see you all in class this week!!  Don’t forget to email and let me know if you are coming!!!
Cheers!
