I was listening to NPR this week as I normally do driving from client to client, and I happened to catch the end of a segment on how to maintain weight loss over time. “The people who maintain their weight loss over time integrate their new healthy choices as a way of life.” Makes sense, right? Think about anyone who is trying to change their life, would an alcoholic coming out of rehab rejoin his or her buddies after work at the bar every night? Not if he or she wants to stay sober. Most likely, they have to make mostly new friends who support their efforts. In the same way, if you are trying to maintain new healthy habits, you need to figure out what could possibly sabotage your new routine and avoid those things. If you want to eat healthy, then only buy and stock your refrigerator and pantry with things that you want to put in your body. Your kids are protesting or complaining? I promise they will get over it! If your significant other is protesting, then let them know how important this is to you and ask for support. Kids are incredibly resilient, unfortunately, sometimes significant others are not. 😉

I know how difficult it is to try and make changes in your life, sometimes just the mere thought is overwhelming enough to send us back into our state of denial. So if you really want to make a change, first get in touch with why that change is so important to you, what that change can do to make your life more enjoyable, how that change can fit in with your current lifestyle, if it does not fit, then ask yourself if you are willing to change your current lifestyle. Too many people wait until they get the dreaded high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, or cancer diagnosis. It is never too late to start making positive changes to your lifestyle and I am always here to support you when you do!

I hope you will all be able to make it to class this week! The MWF class is back on at 9am at Stanford Hills. The T/TH class is on at 6am at Woodland School in Ladera. The Thursday 9am class will not start until after Labor Day.

If you would like to sign up for a class or would like to sign your child up for cross country at Hillview, please go to www.stellafit.com.

Also, if you are interested in a 3 month get healthy and fit program that would include one-on-one training, group training, and healthy habits coaching, please let me know.

Have a fabulous Sunday!

Cheers!
