Fall Cross Country, offered by Stella Bergan, MEd, NASM CPT

Fall Cross Country is back at Hillview for its 4th year! I am super excited to be back this fall and helping another group of kids improve their running endurance, speed, strength, and overall conditioning. I will also share nutrition and mental strategies that will help them with running as well as other sports and life in general. No previous running experience needed, just a good attitude and a willingness to run.If this sounds like something your child might be interested in, then Stella Fit’s Cross Country Program is for you!

Improving running strength and endurance can help your child excel in other sports, whether it is football, soccer, basketball, tennis, or lacrosse. A solid foundation of stability, strength, and endurance is essential for athletes to compete at their best. Stella Fit’s Cross Country Program will teach your child the fundamentals of long distance running in a fun and safe environment. We will also weave in talks on nutritional support, mental strategies, and sleep for optimal health and performance. Our goal will be to compete in one cross country meet and run a 5K at Stanford at the end of the 8 week program. The program will be led by Stella Bergan, MEd, NASM CPT and assisted by Chelsea Fleher who is also a Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist.

  • Day/Time: Mondays 3:15 – 4:30pm and Wednesdays 2:40 – 3:55 pm
  • Location: Hillview Track
  • Dates: 9/12-11/7 (No class Oct. 17th)
  • Price: $275/student (Please note, a $225 refund will be offered if a child needs to drop in the first 2 weeks only.)


Winter Conditioning Program, offered by Stella Bergan, MEd, NASM CPT

The Stella Fit Winter Running Conditioning and Foundational Skills Training Program is for kids who would like to keep up their conditioning or improve their conditioning over the winter months. This program will help improve running endurance, speed, quickness, strength, and balance. We will be doing running drills on the track, along with foundational mobility, strength, and balance sets. We will meet rain or shine.

A solid foundation of stability, strength, and endurance is essential for athletes to compete at their best. Stella Fit’s programs are meant for kids at all levels and are designed for results in a safe and fun environment. This program will also weave in talks on nutritional support, mental strategies, and sleep for optimal health and performance.

The program will be led by Stella Bergan, MEd, NASM CPT and assisted by Chelsea Fleher who is also a Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist.

Day/Time: Mondays 3:15-4:15pm AND Wednesdays 2:40– 3:40pm
Location: Hillview Track
Dates: 1/9 – 3/06 (no class 1/21, 2/18, 2/20)
Price: $250/student (note: a $200 refund will be offered if a student needs to drop in the first 2 weeks only)


FUN FRIDAY YOUTH RUNNING PROGRAM WITH COACH STELLA

This class is open to 10 kids who are ready to take their training to the next level!

Dates: Fridays beginning September 7th
4:15pm – 5:30pm (as it starts to get darker earlier, we will switch to 4-5:15pm)
At the Woodside Priory Track and running trails in Portola Valley
Cost: $120 for the first month, $40 per class afterwards (will be billed monthly)

Is your child looking to improve their running conditioning, fundamental movement patterns, balance, stability, and strength? Would your child like to learn nutrition, sleep, recovery, and breathing strategies for optimal performance and health? This class is open to 10 kids who are ready to take their training to the next level! We run two weeks of trail runs followed by intervals on the Priory Track the third week (trails, trails, track, trails, trails track, etc.). Please NOTE – if the Priory Track is unavailable, we may use Hillview as our alternate location.

This is a great way to shake off the stress of the week on Friday afternoons!

Summer Teen Drop-In

X Country Training

Cost:
$300 to participate all summer.

Incoming 9th, 10th and 11th grade (any level)
Incoming 7th and 8th grade (must have previously participated in a X Country program)

Dates:
Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays weeks of June 11th, June 18th, June 25th, July 2nd, Aug 6th
Monday, July 9th only and Wed/Th July 25th & July 26th.

Time:  4-5:15 pm (this is close to the time the kids train after school)

Program:
This program is designed to get kids ready for Fall X-country or for kids who just want to improve their running strength and endurance for their fall sports. We will focus on doing the runs which are more fun to do in a group – one interval day on the track, one hill day at Valparaiso, and one longer run day. Our home base will be Hillview but we may add some trail runs on our long run day (I would try to organize a carpool from HV if we do).
Other things we will cover – essential mobility exercises for runners, tissue maintenance techniques, we will talk about shoes and when to replace your training shoes, nutrition strategies for runners, breathing as a mental strategy and to optimize performance, and much more.

All kids will receive a summer training schedule with runs to do on off days as well as on the off weeks.
